Philippines Top Ten Best Selling Album Of All Time
This list only comprises top ten album sales by an OPM artist.

In the past decade, the Philippines Album Certification standards has been lowered due to the decline of physical album sales. OPM artists no longer has to compete with Western artists music but with other Asian artists, too. The language barrier is nonexistent in the bubblegum pop genre.
The Philippines Optical Media Board must be aggressive in fighting back Philippines piracy issues. It's not just the physical CDs that they have to watch out for. You can search a Filipino artists music in Google and end up with sites that promote illegal downloads in the search list. How do we fight back this sites? How do we report this sites? How can officials take down this sites? Why aren't we apprehending the people behind this sites?
Part of J-Pop success is the very many users of mobile devices. Music is readily available for download in mobile devices in the Japanese market. A music single goes a long way because of digital downloads. The success we have in digital downloads for a Filipino artist isn't that significant. Not yet. The Filipinos need to understand that buying one or two songs isn't that expensive compared to a physical CD, if price is the concern. There's a significant rise in smart phone users in the country. Why aren't we heavily promoting this service?
The current and biggest change in music is the emergence of Spotify. Any music lovers can stream music on their desktop for free! Are the artists and record labels getting paid every time the music is being streamed on this subscription service? How can artists and record labels make money out this free subscription service?
OPM artists and record labels must understand that making good records does not anymore depend on good songs and artists vocal talents.
Taking lessons learned from our other Asian counterpart: Philippines music record labels must spend money on the artists visuals, the music video and marketing of their artist music in the digital world. Intensive study in current trends in Music Marketing is also needed.
Music executives must be able to create and develop new sound that is unique to other OPM artists, Western and other Asian artists. Filipino artists shouldn't be mere followers in music. Fiipino singers should also stop promoting Western artists work in popular variety shows.
Filipino's are the greatest singers in the world. Filipino singers can sing in English. But, why aren't we making hits in the world music arena? We have yet to see a Filipino singer reach a million seller album in the country alone.
On A Personal Note
When I visit Youtube, watch Filipino singers videos and read the comments section, I see some complain how music videos really suck. Music labels need the money to spend on a very high quality and unique music videos. That can be done when we support and buy original CDs of the artist. The record label will have to pay the songwriters, composers, arrangers, engineers and the people behind the packaging of the album. Music is a way of showing other cultures who we are as people. Let's not make OPM a dying industry. Buy original CDs and support OPM!
