How to Create an Entryway

by - January 13, 2016

There's nothing like being greeted by a cute, well thought out entryway as soon as you enter your home. An entryway is a hall that is located at the entrance of a house.

But many houses and apartment, probably rented, directly opens into the living room. Without a formal entrance, your home might lack that defined space to land. For my Mama, it's straight to a chair to dump all her stuff.

Here’s a list of clever ideas to create the feeling of an entryway even when there isn’t one.

  • Define a space with a colorful or patterned rug. The softness on your feet says home sweet home.
  • Engage visitors by displaying wall art next to your front door. Great conversation starters.
  • Add a small bench or table as a catch all. Relieves shoulder stress for the travel weary.
  • Make sure the entryway is well lit. Add interest by using a table lamp or pendant lighting.
  • Remove the big items that block the doorway. Makes it easy for people to enter, of course.
